2023-2024 NVU Academy Boys & Girls

The NVU Academy boys & girls programs will host ID Sessions beginning in February 2023. These sessions are for players interested in joining the NVU Academy for 2023/2024. Please register below and an NVU coach will be in touch to arrange a suitable date.

Current NVU Academy players do not need to register for ID sessions.

Academy overview

THE NVU Academy helps young people of all abilities develop their talents as soccer players in a competitive team setting that also provides them with attributes that will aid them on their life journeys.

We focus on developing the person within the player, which strengthens their abilities on the field, in the classroom and ultimately in their careers.

2023/2024 ACADEMY TRYOUT INFORMATION 

We offer two different ways to tryout, you can attend an ID Session and/or attend our Open Tryouts. Learn more about both below.

ID Session

ID sessions allow you to practice with academy players, experience the NVU training environment and showcase your game while our coaches evaluate your skill set, potential, and determination.

Register for an ID session now, and the head coach for your age group will contact you to schedule a session.

Open Tryouts

Our tryouts are open to all boys and girls interested in joining a team within our NVU Travel Program for the 2023/24 soccer season. If you are new to NVU, you need to fill out the Tryout Registration form (link below). Returning players should attend tryouts but do not need to register.

Leagues Information

EDP

Founded in 1999, Elite Development Program (EDP) is one of the largest organizers of youth soccer leagues and tournaments in the U.S. EDP operates youth leagues for boys and girls ages 8-19, conducts a Futures program for players ages 7-10, and operates U20/23 men’s and women’s leagues. EDP also runs over 20 tournaments each year.

One of the major priorities of EDP’s leagues and tournaments through its Pathway to College™ programming is to enable youth soccer players to reach their full potential, with an emphasis on attending college. More than 5,000 teams participate in EDP’s leagues and more than 170,000 players compete in EDP tournaments annually.

NCSL

National Capital Soccer League (NCSL) is the DC Metro area's premier promotion-relegation soccer league, serving approximately 30,000 travel soccer players every year representing many of the most successful clubs in the nation.

It is a club-based league, which requires clubs to meet league standards to be considered for entry and must be voted in by other member clubs, and schedules games at the team-to-team level providing the most appropriate and competitive game-day experience.

It offers appropriate soccer competition for boys and girls teams aged 7 through 19. With approximately 1,100 teams competing in eleven age groups, NCSL is one of the oldest, largest, and most well-known travel soccer leagues in the nation. It currently features 72 member clubs centered in Maryland, DC, Virginia, and West Virginia.
